Heart Monitor Reviews

When I started on my weight loss journey I quickly learned how important it was to get a heart monitor so that I could be assured I was not working out too hard. I know it seems weird, but it’s important not to over-exert yourself because if you’re working out too hard, your activity can actually become counter productive and strain or damage muscles.

To achieve an effective workout, no matter what the aerobic activity, you must maintain your heart rate at a proper level for a minimum of 20 minutes. In general, the proper level falls between 65 percent-85 percent of your maximum heart rate.

What should you look for in a heart rate monitor? Well I believe the most important aspect is to find a review done by someone who is actually using the product. Personal heart rate monitor reviews are really important in finding the best product. My Gold medal winning product reviews are always products that work for me and that I use daily in my battle of the bulge.

Other important aspects are accuracy, alarms, battery life, looks and cost. No heart monitor ratings page could be complete without them.

I hope you find this heart monitor review helpful in finding the perfect heart rate monitor for your needs.

Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor

Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor

One of the first things I did when I started my weight loss plan was to invest in a heart rate monitor, the Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor. I can’t recommend this heart rate monitor enough! Of course Omron is a trusted brand, and this heart rate monitor offers a number of outstanding features including a chest strap and a nice carrying case.

One great feature of this heart rate monitor is the ability for the owner to change the battery themselves. While this might not seem like a big deal it is actually pretty important because some of the higher-end monitors actually require you to return the unit to have the battery replaced!

This is a moderate to low priced unit that I believe gives the best cost/feature ratio.

This heart rate monitor earns my personal recommendation - Gold medal winner.

Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor

Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor

Of the three award-winning heart rate monitors, the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor is the most expensive, but don’t let that scare you off. This is the highest rated top-end unit on Amazon and comes with a bevy of features that if you can afford it, would be well worth it.

The GPS device integrated into the heart rate monitor is the obvious difference between the other two award winners, but it also offers better interference protection that would be useful if you need to use your monitor in a gym with many other people wearing heart rate monitors. The unit is a little bulky but it is packed full of useful features.

If you’ve got the cash and are looking for top of the line features (not to mention being able to show off a little bit) then this unit is for you.
