Monitoring My Input

December 17, 2007

I don’t keep a food journal but every once in awhile I like to log what I eat just to keep myself honest, and to make sure I still have a good handle on how much I should be eating.  I’ll keep track of my consumption during the day, grade how I felt it went, [...]

The 4-Hour Body?

November 16, 2007

Thinner, bigger, faster, stronger… which 150 pages will you read? Is it possible to: Reach your genetic potential in 6 months? Sleep 2 hours per day and perform better than on 8 hours? Lose more fat than a marathoner by bingeing? Indeed, and much more. This is not just another diet and fitness book. I [...]

Even More Paring Down at Noodles & Company

November 6, 2007

From the very beginning of my journey from fat to fit I knew in my heart I could be successful without any special diet other than making slow and steady reductions in what I was already eating.  Portion size and other aspect of moderation were going to be key.  As I wrote in Paring Down at [...]

Halloween Aftermath

November 5, 2007

Halloween has come and gone but unfortunately the candy remains.  18 pounds of it.  My son’s haul alone was 13.2 pounds.  He only weighs 77 pounds, so that’s like me bringing home 48 pounds of candy.  It’s just gross. More On Bread

October 15, 2007

In my weekly update yesterday I suggested that cutting out bread was a factor in my having a record week.  This comment from reader Jan B got me thinking more in depth about bread in my diet: I cut out bread a couple of months ago when I started realizing that I was using it [...]

Be Careful with Those Salads

October 6, 2007

Diet Blog points to an article on AOL (I didn’t even realize they had websites!) called Unhealthy Restaurant Salads that was a real eye-opener for me. It really shows why it is so important to pay attention to the details of what you are eating and the importance of education. “I’ll just have a salad” [...]

Food Journal

September 13, 2007

Yesterday was a good day overall; I put in 40 minutes of strength training in the morning and 25 minutes of cardio in the afternoon.  My eating was right on plan, in fact a little less than usual since I didn’t have much proteins that I would normally have for breakfast or dinner. At no [...]
