I’m back on my losing “weighs” in my Countdown to Vegas challenge. After starting with a 6-week streak of losing weight I had a two pound gain last week. I’m pleased to report that I have started a new weekly weight loss streak that hopefully I can continue for at least a few weeks. In order for me to achieve my goal of losing 40 pounds by the end of June I need to have lost about 1.25 pounds per week. With a 3 pound loss this week I am at 1.625 pounds lost per week over the first couple of months, so I am on a good pace.
Of course the start is always the easiest, so I know not to be complacent. While I don’t know that I can pull another 6 weeks straight I do know that I would like to see at least another couple of weeks of losing. I don’t want to get stuck in a rut of losing one week and gaining the next.
Things I did well this week:
- Repeated my mantra “Vegas, baby, Vegas” numerous times every day, which helped keep me focused on making better decisions
- Drank a lot of water every day
- Very few eating slip-ups
- Did 3 workouts on my new elliptical, the last one burned 502 calories
Things I did not so well this week:
- Did not do as much exercise as I had planned
- We have a cooler on our deck filled with Christmas cookies. I had been doing a good job staying away until this week
- Ate too many protein bars when some vegetables would have been better
I have no excuses for not doing well this week - I’m not doing any traveling and the holidays have past us. I should be able to easily eat well every day and get focused on improving my workouts on my elliptical.
