Countdown to Vegas – Week 8

  • Week starting weight: 294
  • Today’s weight: 291
  • Week weight loss: 3 lbs
  • Total weight lost: 13 lbs

I’m back on my losing “weighs” in my Countdown to Vegas challenge. After starting with a 6-week streak of losing weight I had a two pound gain last week. I’m pleased to report that I have started a new weekly weight loss streak that hopefully I can continue for at least a few weeks. In order for me to achieve my goal of losing 40 pounds by the end of June I need to have lost about 1.25 pounds per week. With a 3 pound loss this week I am at 1.625 pounds lost per week over the first couple of months, so I am on a good pace.

Of course the start is always the easiest, so I know not to be complacent. While I don’t know that I can pull another 6 weeks straight I do know that I would like to see at least another couple of weeks of losing. I don’t want to get stuck in a rut of losing one week and gaining the next.

Things I did well this week:

  • Repeated my mantra “Vegas, baby, Vegas” numerous times every day, which helped keep me focused on making better decisions
  • Drank a lot of water every day
  • Very few eating slip-ups
  • Did 3 workouts on my new elliptical, the last one burned 502 calories

Things I did not so well this week:

  • Did not do as much exercise as I had planned
  • We have a cooler on our deck filled with Christmas cookies. I had been doing a good job staying away until this week
  • Ate too many protein bars when some vegetables would have been better

I have no excuses for not doing well this week – I’m not doing any traveling and the holidays have past us. I should be able to easily eat well every day and get focused on improving my workouts on my elliptical.

Good job, happy you are back on track. If the scale stays the same I should be joining you tomorrow.

Well scale was a little higher than the weekend, only a 2.8 pound loss. Down 9.2 pounds against your 13 over the same period. Looks like I have some catching up to do!

A loss is a loss John, great job! I’m working from a bigger base, but if you want to compete pound for pound I’m up for it!

More of a benchmark than a competition. If I can keep up with you I should meet my goal of 215 by March 8th.
