You may remember that yesterday I warned I was going to a conference today that promised the following:
- Lunch will be served from 12:00pm until 1:30pm.
- Immediately following the keynote, plan to attend the Cocktail Reception. The hosted reception features cocktails and alcohol-free beverages, as well as tasty hors d'ouvres!
I wrote that I needed help to find the strength I needed, and your thoughts must have been stuck in my head because I had a successful day of eating, in my opinion. And they didn't even mention the cookies and other sweets I was also faced with!
Let's take a look at my meals for today and see if you agree with me that I did well:
Breakfast was oatmeal with pomegranate seeds and blackberries, a slice of toast with peanut butter, a banana and 8 oz of spicy hot V8.
My options for lunch were limited to wraps, salad, chips and cookies and other desserts. I went with the salad with just a little bit of ranch dressing and just one half of a turkey wrap sandwich. No chips, no dessert. If I wasn't focused today I guarantee you I would have started with two half wraps, and chips, and cookie, and I probably would have gone back for another half wrap. The reception at the end of the day did indeed have hors d'ouvres, but the closest I got was the smell. They had BBQ meatballs that you could smell from across the room. Man did they smell good. But I knew I would not do well with the finger food so I stayed away. No alcohol either, just a bottle of water.
My wife made tacos for dinner so I modified my recent dinner salad a bit - the rest of the herb greens, regular chopped lettuce, a 5oz chicken breast chopped up, half an orange bell pepper, a mini cucumber, some sport peppers, a small amount of taco meat, salsa and just a smidgen of shredded cheese. Yogurt for dessert, and another small glass of V8.
I'm a little bit worried that I may get hungry tonight before bed and will wonder off the reservation as it were but I'm trying to hold out. The hot tea is helping.
