I’m feeling good to be logging my second loss in a row in my Countdown to Vegas challenge. After all, this was Thanksgiving week, traditionally a dieters nightmare. I started the week off well by packing a bento box lunch all three days, and managed to complete the week without any significant slip-ups.
Family support helped - when my wife went out to eat with friends at a restaurant where she normally brings me back leftovers I asked her not to bring any home this time and she complied. When we went out to see Harry Potter last night I asked her to upgrade her small popcorn to a medium so I could have some, but then she only let me have a little bit. Which is what I need so I was fine with that. Hard to argue in a packed, darkened theater anyway.
Things I did well this week:
- Repeated my mantra “Vegas, baby, Vegas” numerous times every day, which helped keep me focused on making better decisions.
- Packed a lunch every work day (albeit 3 days only)
- Drank a lot of water every day, had my share of salads, kept portion sizes reasonable overall.
- Got in a little aerobic exercise.
- 4 mile walk in the cold - check out the pictures from my walk, including one of me, which is a pretty rare sighting.
- Other than Thanksgiving, no major binges - and even that wasn’t bad.
Things I did not so well this week:
- Need to be more active with exercise - should be sweating every day.
- I was planning to have a salad for dinner last night but had leftover pizza instead. After I told my wife I wouldn’t.
This coming week could be a good one. I haven’t seen 295 on the scale for awhile and I would like to get there soon. It will signal some kind of rebirth for me since that is the weight I was at when I started this weight loss blog. I had to adjust my starting weight for this challenge to 304 and I’ve been over 300 off and on for some time now, and it’s time to get that chart moving in the right direction.
Two weeks, two losses - a promising start to my goal of losing 40 pounds by June 30th, 2011.
P.S. - Stop by and check out the new FatBloggers.net. I bought the place recently and am working on a little winter cleaning. Leave a comment there, I’m lonely!
