Rate My Meals - 2010-11-08

Sucking on some Ricola cough drops to try to get through the night without coughing up a lung. Probably should have included the bag in my meals for the day, no idea how many calories in each of these but it probably adds up.

On the road for business but my room has a little kitchen and I stocked up at the store so I can make some meals for myself, so all told I think I did pretty well today although I wish I had been able to stick with the 6″ subway instead of the foot long:

Monday Meals

For breakfast I made a serving of instant oatmeal to which I added a splash of skim milk and some mixed berries which included strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Also had a banana and a fat free yogurt. Then I ate another banana for a morning snack.

Lunch was at Subway where I had a 12″ Subway sandwich, Turkey on Flatbread with no cheese, spicy mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, jalapenos, spinach, vinegar and salt and pepper. Instead of chips I had apple slices and I also had a fat free yogurt. I was planning to have a 6″ sub today but I just felt like I was too hungry and I knew I was going to be good for dinner so I felt like I needed the extra nutrition. Probably a fallacy, moving to 6″ sandwiches is something I know I need to do long term.

On a side note I read an article over lunch from the USA Today Study: Sleepiness a factor in 17% of road deaths. Before my sleep study and subsequent use of a CPAP machine I frequently had all those warning signs. If that sounds like you do yourself a favor and get tested for sleep apnea NOW. It really is easy.

For dinner I made a couple of lettuce wraps that were simply lettuce, tomatoes, salt and pepper, a single slice of provolone cheese and a quarter pound of deli sliced, mesquite turkey breast. Plus another yogurt. Finally I did finish off about a half cup of mixed berries that I forgot to grab a picture of. Pretty small amount though.

All in all pretty good, I think would have been about as good as I can do if I had been able to have the 6″ sandwich. I know Jared would have been able to do that.

So how do you think I did? Click a star!

That looks pretty good. I have oatmeal for breakfast most mornings and it does a good job of filling me up. The fat-free yogurt and bananas are good snacks and the Subway sandwich isn’t too bad. My guess is that total calories were around 1700 or so.

If you want to start tracking calories etc. try sparkpeople (www.sparkpeople.com) They have a pretty good food tracking system with a lot of foods in the database. I use it and find it easy to update.

LOL, I was literally doing the calorie estimate in my head and using my calorie website, I came up with 1800, looks like me and Mark are thinking the same way. By my estimate you were roughly 1500 calories below maintain (maybe a little more) meaning if everyday was like this this week you should lose 3 pounds.
