End of Summer Purging

Fat Clothes

As per usual I’ve been doing about everything other than focusing on improving my fitness, although a couple of weeks ago I did strength training every day for the first time in a long time. My back has been sore since.

One thing I have been doing well at this “end of summer”* period is purging. I helped clean out an old office at work where we got rid of 6 small dumpsters worth of old IT equipment, I tackled the toy room in our house that has been the dumping ground during house cleanups over the last couple of years and I even cleaned up my son’s room. I had to use a leaf rake to clean up under his bed. But both rooms are now spotless and neat and organized and it felt great to get rid of so much garbage.

* I can’t get myself to say Fall yet but with the kids back in school and the Vikings already playing it’s sure feeling like Fall here in Minnesota.

I also tackled my own closet. I donated 104 shirts that had been hanging in my closet but not getting worn. I wish I could say they were my fat clothes but unfortunately that’s what I wear - no, this was a purging of the skinny clothes. And to be honest, not even the skinny clothes because I had previously purged those out. No, this was a purging of the large clothes that are still too small. I donated a lot of 2X shirts. I just decided that if I can find a way to fit into them again that I would want to reward myself with buying new clothes.

If I can figure out how to purge my fat as well as I have been purging other things it would be a very good year indeed.

Let’s get you focused on fitness again! If you need absolutely anything from me, just let me know. I want to help keep you motivated.

About purging: I just did a round myself. We had a garage sale, and everything we didn’t sell we donated. We got rid of enough stuff to open up two whole rooms in my basement!

We usually do an annual garage sales but missed it this year - so the bins in the garage are starting to pile up. Looking forward to next May!

I appreciate your offer to help get me motivated, to be honest I don’t know what it’s going to take.

Admittedly, I’ve been slipping lately (but not bad). I’ve been indulging in too many ‘cheat’ meals. I’m doing ok on exercise, but I think I love food too much…
