7 Link Challenge Post

July 17, 2010 · 13 comments

As I’m trying to get back into the swing of things on my weight loss journey I thought this challenge posted by Darren Rowse at ProBlogger was appropriately timed.

I am fat, not fit was my first post. Given the title of my blog it seemed appropriate to make sure everyone knew I really didn’t consider myself fit. That post was almost three years ago and I am more out of shape today than I was then. Not good.

It’s a hard one to pin down but I think the post I enjoyed writing the most was In Which I Tell My Wife About My Weight Loss Blog. Up until this point I had been a closet weight loss blogger.

I don’t get as many comments as I used to, which is no surprise given what a miserable failure I currently am and that I don’t write on here as much as I should, but back in the day I used to be able to get some good feedback from the blogging community. One post that had great discussion was 9 Tips For Kick-Starting Your Dormant Weight Loss Blog, and I am currently utilizing some of those very same techniques.

I’ve been reading the Anti-Jared ever since my Tony Posnanski Interview, and the guy has written tons of posts that I wish I had written, but none more so than his recent Gaining weight never felt so good. Tony is the man.

It’s hard to define a post that has helped people since I haven’t been the role model around here that I had hoped to be, but I hope I helped June from The Path to Health when she won my biggest blog contest prize to date, a Fuji Bike.

I’m not sure people really got it, but my favorite post title was I am a Boiled Frog. Time to start turning up the heat.

Finally, the post I wish more people had read was Reducing the Clutter of Life. Personally I think it is well-written and carries an important message.

This was a fun trip down memory lane, thanks to Darren for the idea. If any of my readers take, or already have taken, the challenge let me know and I will link up your entry here.

I hope you get your weight loss groove back and find your momentum. As a fellow weight loss blogger I know how hard it is to stay motivated. Good luck with your weight loss endeavor.

it’s great you’re coming back & this is a great idea to share your past & weave in where you are now!

I just got back on track a few months ago - it was a real struggle but things have settled back to normal now.

Good luck

Hey John…just followed your link from Problogger, I’m in the middle of writing my 7 Link Challenge Post and saw you are kinda in my niche! Thought I was the only fitness writer on there!

Great blog mate, now on my ‘to read’ list!

Hey John,

Caught this post and decided to do one of my own! I’m glad to heard you’re getting back into it! I’ve always known I should read ProBlogger, but haven’t. Maybe now is the time to jump.

Hey John-

Thanks for the inspiration… again! I’ve never been one to follow directions, but I think I hit all seven from my sordid past. Which post answers which question depends on my mood.

Your second paragraph looks like a “do-over” thing to me- your early success is sure to be re-experienced. I mean hey, those old posts are kind of a roadmap that can certainly lead to a different destination (just skip a couple of “turns”).

Best wishes.

Hi there! I’m a new closet weigh loss blogger! I am currently in the throes of newfound success, so I’m posting and losing every day. I love this challenge idea, though, and am going to hang onto it for a while. In the meantime, don’t give up! It’s never too late to hop back on the wagon. (Or, in the case of big losers like us, it’s never too late to run behind the wagon.)

What exactly is the 7 link challange? My fiance started a weight loss blog about 2 months ago and in the past 2 months has lost about 30 pounds. He is following weight watchers. We are expanding our food horizons and he is gaining inspiration through his blog. When you get a chance please check it out and feel free to leave any helpful suggestions as he is working to get into the best shape of his life by our wedding which is in about a year. The blog address is http://www.theheavymansdiary.blogspot.com. Keep up the good work.. The grilling looked AMAZING!!
