Thanks for reviewing this! I use earclip style headphones, because I hate having earbuds fall out. But this seems like an even better solution! A bit geeky looking, but I'd be willing to wear it just to get rid of the annoying wires. Only thing I'd worry about is whether it would make my ears feel hot... the reason I don't like regular headphones either.

I have the same problem with headphones, and the headband will also make your head feel hot but in a different, not so localized way. I like the headband for outdoors running, although for indoors I think it wouldn't work as well for me. I tried using it on the treadmill and I got really hot and sweaty and had to take it off after awhile.

Most of us are commenting how much we like this idea but I wonder how many of us would really be willing to wear something like this in a packed gym?

I don't think I would wear it indoors - it certainly seems more fitting for outdoor activity, particularly when cooler.

That is cool! Good thing we have super tiny mp3 players these days that make something like this a reality.

having things in my ear like ear buds irritates me, so if i would like to hear some music i just play it on a speaker. but looking to this gadget maybe i would try to use this and see what happens. nice post by the way!

Earbuds are the worst if you have small ears like I do. I used to use them with a headband. I then switched to the kind that wrap around the back of the ear but even those tend to move away from the ear. This wrap sounds pretty cool, especially on a cold day!

This sounds like a great idea. I hate having all these wires dangling everywhere when I am outdoor exercising. Now if only they make a hairband for indoor use.

This sounds too cool. I nearly hung myself at the gym with the cord to my ipod. Plus, I can see how it could help keep the sweat out of my eyes. Neat idea!

John,
How washable is that headband? I'm one of those guys that happens to be "hair challenged" (yep bald) and would be sweating all over that thing.

No problem washing it, instructions say to hand wash in cold water. The speakers can be easily removed from the embedded wires so what you would do to wash them is remove the MP3 player. remove the speakers, and then hand wash it with the wires in place. Let it dry and plug everything back in. And from what I can tell the wires aren't sewn in either so if you really wanted to wash it without them you probably could, although it may be hard to put them back.

Since I have started running having something stay in my ear has been a constant problem.. Nothing worse than to be listening to a highly motivational song and then your right ear bud falls out causing the left one to soon follow. I actually ripped my Ipod right out of my pocket by stepping on a fallen ear bud. Was my little embarrassing moment at the gym. When running out doors I actually use a head band to keep my ears warm and keep the ear buds semi pushed in. That's a ingenious product, wish I would have thought of it!

Yep - the real beauty of it over the solution you have done, where I am assuming you still have wires running from your ears down to your MP3 player, is that because the MP3 player is in the headband it really is more like a wireless solution. Of course you could mimic that with your own headband by clipping the MP3 player to the headband (if you have a clip like I do), but having a slot in the headband to hide the player works really well. Very ingenious, I agree!

That would work good for running in the cold. I did a marathon today and wish I would have had that. My ears were frozen to my ear buds. HAHAHAHA

Yep, I would say cold weather running is their sweet spot.

I have the same problem with earbuds. I also worry about the long-term health ramifications of using earbuds. I'd probably have to agree with AndrewE, though!

I have the same problem with earbuds, they just don't seem to work for me. I have these headphones now that wrap around your ear, these are better but they still have buds and are highly annoying to me. Since having my podcasts are really what keep me running, I would love something like this. Even if I looked silly running with a headband in Hawaii :)

I know a lot of people wear headbands even when it is hot, to keep the sweat out of their eyes. Plus with the hats and beanies I think those will go over well with the younger, hipper crowd. Younger and hipper than me, of course - I am not making any comments about you!

Come on, you'd look sharp! Certainly for winter running... But alas, as you are in beautiful New Zealand you aren't eligible to win it anyway, as you know - sorry!
