Weekly Update - 11/2/2008

November 2, 2008 · 7 comments

  • Diet starting weight: 295
  • Week starting weight: 277
  • Today’s weight: 276
  • Week weight loss: 1 lbs
  • Total weight lost: 19 lbs

I really didn’t do much this week until yesterday, when I made a commitment to myself to work hard this month. Still, I am happy to have my weight loss chart look like it has turned a little corner. I’m really confident that I am going to be keeping that going this month. Yesterday I did track everything I ate (I tried Twittering — follow me if you aren’t already — it all but stopped after lunch, I’m still going to try to do that though) but it was really hard to do for dinner, when I made what was essentially a meal of leftovers. What I have discovered is that breakfast, snacks and lunch are all easy to calculate because I am in control of exactly what I am making just for me, whereas with dinner I tend to make things more family style, with a lot more variety, so that makes it very hard to write everything down and to get the calorie count right. It probably means that the best way through it is to actually make something different for myself that I can control. More on that as the month progresses.

Also, I’m coaching winter soccer for my daughter’s team and the first practice was yesterday. I was really hoping to get a break from coaching but she really wanted to play and they were desperate for coaches so I stepped up again. The downside of this is that I noticed that my right knee started aching during the fall soccer season because it isn’t used to the pressure exerted from the side that comes from kicking soccer balls. So I am hoping that won’t effect what I am hoping to start doing in terms of exercise.

Things I did well this week:

  • Did a pretty good job with drinking water
  • I’m watching what I eat well throughout the day up until dinner
  • Starting on November 1st, no Halloween candy

Things I did not so well this week:

  • Need to focus on doing better at dinner
  • Did not utilize meal replacement shakes
  • No cardio or strength training

I am looking forward to this month both because I’ll be writing more than I have been (and therefor interacting with you, my readers more) and I really think I am going to be able to turn a corner heading into the New Year. It’s disappointing to me that I weigh more than I did a year ago but all you can do is to use that as motivation and get back to it.

And that’s what I’m doing.

I didn’t know you were on Twitter! I started following you. :) Good job with losing a pound! That’s a great start!

Thanks Sadie - I added you as well.

I’m a little behind the times, never really explored twitter. Pretty cool site.

I haven’t done much with it either, but I’m liking it, although I could see it being overwhelming. Darren Rowse just started a site called TwiTip that he describes as “Twitter Tips for Beginners.” Might be worth subscribing to - I have.

Do the cardio - it’s the best fat burner! It induces production of hormon which help you burn the fat

I’m doing cardio this week for sure - I promise. I did lower body strength training this morning.

John-

I think that we will be seeing the most slim and trim John we have seen by Dec 1st. You can do this.

Well, I don’t know about that but I promise I will be less than now anyway. Slim and trim will be awhile. :-)
