Thanks for the list! It's now my reminder of, "Three foods I should eat more of."

Ah, we have a contrarian among us. :-)

That's hilarious!! I'm with you on he "fire butt." I always pay for eating them, but I've got to admit that I love the taste of hot foods. A good mix of peppers, onions, and hot spices. Yum!

Now something that I can't take -- soy products. I had the bright idea a few years ago that I'd try those cardboard-flavored soy chips. Low cal, right? I ate a handful of them and it was bad. I've heard people talk about gas pain before, but never experienced it. Made me swear off the things. I avoid soy products like the plague.

I think I wrote this on a comment on your blog but I've had good luck with the Newman's Own soy crisps.

I feel you on the onions but I use them every day in my cooking. When your trying to eat healthy its one good way to make the food interesting. I'll deal with the fact that people can smell my breath 100 yards down wind!

I know what you mean, that's why I use them to and I don't plan to stop, but I am going to go very light on them. It isn't the other people smelling my breath that I care about, it's how they make me feel.

Can you tell me...how would NOT using these foods help you get fit??

In the same way that the 8000 calorie burger you recently wrote about helps you burn fat and build muscle. :-)

I had to laugh... I too have experienced "fire butt". Not fun. Fortunately, don't have issues with onion. And I can eat a little of most hot peppers as long as I don't go crazy.

Lately, I've cut cottage cheese out of my diet. Seems that I may have a slight sensitivity to dairy. I'm still using a little greek yogurt here and there, along with small amounts of hard cheeses, but since cutting out the cottage cheese, I am less congested and sniffly.

No need for me to cut cottage cheese out of my diet as it isn't in there to begin with. Yuck! :-)

Ha!

I can eat anything, without any problems. Probably the bottle a day of Tabasco that I use!

Can't do onions though John! I sheltered my daughter from onions until the tender age of 14. She went to a sleep over, they ordered veggie pizza, and not to be rude, ate a piece. It had diced red onions on it.

She came home and said "you've been sheltering me from the delicious onion all these years!"

Turns out quite quickly after that, she realized it was me and my husband against the world on onions, and that WE were the only ones that didn't like them!

So now, sadly, there are onions in my grocery cart.

Oh I agree that onions are delicious, I just have issues later. I probably should do a taste-off to see if I can handle red vs. yellow vs. white, etc. I actually think that red are the worst for me but I have no statistical evidence of that.

Im SO GONNA use FIRE BUTT as my rationale when people mock me----as they always do----for my picky palate.

I better trademark that before it's too late. Funny thing is I just Googled it and it's in the Urban Dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Fire+Butt

Haha!! Yes...we must avoid "fire butt" at all costs! LOL

And also, I couldn't help but think of Fred Sanford when you were talking about onions, he always used to say "Make me burp!" LOL

Thanks for the giggle... ;)

Used to love watching Sanford & Son, but I forgot about anything to do with onions...

Boy...hotter going out than going in eh!

I need to avoid refined carbs. They give me lethal wind.

Well I don't know about hotter, but certainly different. :-)

ROTFL... ok, I know this isn't funny, but... it is.

Especially the jalapeno.

I eat all sorts of hot peppers, but the one that really hurts isn't the hottest, it's just plain New Mexico green chile. I got some Hatch '08 and they are DANGEROUS to my digestive track. And they aren't even terribly flavorful.

Nah, it's funny! Always easier to laugh at yourself later....
