John, I know this post is already nearly a year old, but are you still endorsing Pepperjam? I am member of a few of the big advertising companies, but so far I have not had much luck yet :( To me Adsense has worked out best so far.

I've actually decided to remove advertising from my blog. My blog is not about making money it's about sharing my journey.

The only thing I'll do from now on is endorse sites and services I love - but for free.

I think that's a fine approach and I can see going that route at some point. For now my monetization efforts are as much for learning as for actually making any money.

Hi! Is this really effective? If so, then cheers to you! Making money on your blog is not a bad thing, as long as you don't lose sight of your original purpose.

"as long as you don't lose sight of your original purpose" - that is a real challenge, that's for sure. I'm trying to maintain balance.

so what do you actually make monthly with these ads? I've found working with advertisers just doesn't bring in much money ... like less than a dollar a week with Google. Seems to me that the $10 sign on bonus might be the best you can see from one of these programs.

There are a variety of different advertising options some which are more consistent than others. Certainly I have found that private ads offer a more predictable revenue stream. Adsense is good too, although I have found that on blogs like this one it doesn't do so well because most of the readers are regulars who don't click on ads. It is for that reason that I actually hide adsense ads from you. I think the best way to monetize with an affiliate program is to find a product you trust, like and can honestly endorse.
