Have a look at the Kick Start Diet -
http://www.kickstartdiet.com.au/
A diet devised by surgeons for patients who needed to lose weight fast for surgery.

And don't worry about the slight gain - muscle weighs more than fat so you're toning up muscles while still losing the inches ;)

I tend to eat my heaviest meals for breakfast/lunch, then taper off a little. As in my earlier meals might be 350-400 calories, with later meals being oh, say 300 calories or less. I still eat 5-6 meals a day, it's just that later meals tend to have fewer carbs and generally be a little smaller. If I'm awake and it's time for a meal, I eat one, but it is always balanced, i.e. lean protein, healthy fat, veggies or fruit. It's not unusual for me to have a small pre-bed snack. The key word is small though.

The fact that I am getting both good nutrition and steady nutrition throughout my "awake" period helps control cravings quite a bit!

Good idea. I've found that having something to do after dinner helps me to avoid eating. That's when I work on the blogs, write my fiction, knit, etc. (not to mention housework). The busier I stay, the less time I have for snacking.

Vegging out in front of the television is a sure fire way to get me to eat all evening, so I avoid that as much as I can.

Good luck, and don't get discouraged!

Have you ever read the Abs Diet? It has great info on this kind of stuff and recommendations on things to eat after supper. I don't think it's good to go completely without eating from 6pm until breakfast the next morning. Your body will go into starvation mode and actually ADD fat cells. There are some good foods that can help your body burn fat.
Found my way here through Jan B's website. :-)

I live by that prescription as well. Big breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner and absolutely no food after dinner.

I believe it works and I believe you can do it.

Hey this is a pretty cool website. I like the graph in the sidebar. Good idea. Found you though entrecard btw. Good luck on your weight loss project. You hit a certain age that weight becomes high blood pressure, then diabetes, then six feet of dirt. It's a good selfish pursuit! I'll be reading more.
