Now, I was inspired to lose weight again. I started last year and lost about 15 pounds but I gained it again! I want to get back to my size before.

Hey John,
You may want to use a tape measure to see if your waist and other areas are changing.

Hit the weights bro!

Plan your eve meals, or get a decent meal replacement.

Be fierce and push on,
Coop

Hi John,
Nice to read about your weekly update progress. To set and evaluate weekly targets is good...But remember, do not punish yourself if you don't achieve them. Have a happy diet :)

Are you doing steady pace runs? Or are you running intervals? In my experience intervals are far better at producing weight loss result (and in less time overall). I just put a post together on this today- well it is somewhat related.

The best way to break plateaus is either ratcheting up the intensity, adding in new forms of exercise (car pushing perhaps?), and evaluating what you are already doing to check and see if (surprise, surprise) are you eating too little or too much, under-training or over-training.

Hang in there, the loss will come again. I am on a similar journey and believe I have gained more muscle mass in the last week without shedding the kilograms.

That is because my routine has been smashed by a house move where at least I have been doing a fair bit of heavy lifting. My cardio though has suffered.

I will be getting back into the walking regime though from tonight as I am currently occupying the old digs for the existing internet connection. As a result I have very limited entertainment options (ie. no television) so I expect that I shall be walking quite a bit for the coming days.

The effects from the reestablished regime should show from my next scheduled weigh in on Friday.

I too struggle with various meals. Dinner is a major issue for me as traditionally it was the only full meal I had. As for food that I am struggling to avoid it is burgers. The smell of burgers (even the plastic McDonalds burgers) when others in my household consume them make me want to go to the burger bar, an urge that I was able to resist until the weekend when there was nothing else open and nothing at home to cook. I enjoyed it, but at the same time feel quite guilty for its consumption.

Finally, well done on your accomplishment to date and hang in there. You have clearly made some life altering positive decisions that will set you in good stead for future weight loss.

Hey John,

You're doing great, just stay with your program and the weight will come off. The scale shouldn't be the only measurement of success, since muscle weighs more than fat, you're still losing inches and toning your muscles. Hang in there man! :)

Hiya John,

I found your site through Entrecard, (have joined up on your recommend) and i'm glad i did! I have only just started blogging about my battle to get fit and lose my fat, and your site is a great inspiration.

Do not worry about missing this or not doing that, it happens to the best of us, Friday night instead of training, i cleverly decided to drink damn near a litre of whisky, smart huh?

Needless to say i wiped off Saturday with 'hair of the dog' in the form of a few pints of cider, the last of the whisky, and a bottle of red wine, so i really don't feel too great about myself. This IS however a temporary setback, and i'll be back on it tomorrow. As everyone has said before me, don't let the scales bother you, it'll come. I'm going to be a regular reader of this site from now on, keep going mate, we'll both get there!

Kind regards, Paul

Staying the same is better than a gain any day. Look at it this way, you now know how to maintain!

It takes time for your body to adjust. We know that but it still stinks when the scale doesn't move. Just keep hanging in there and do the right things you know you need to do!

The scale certainly isn't the be all and end all measurement of success. Considering the running you're doing and managing the week without a gain, I'd say it was a pretty good week. Hit the weights this week and see if it makes a difference.

Hey Buddy. I feel ya, I didn't lose any scale weight this week (actually gained 2 lbs) and was a bit discouraged -- but I looked at other positives such as losing inches and my clothes are fitting better.

Take a look at other feedback... and keep on going!

The scale is just one means of feedback. You've been getting other feedback from people who are finally starting to take note of your weight loss. More feedback from the distances that you've been running. Are you feeling any better physically? More feedback! How are your clothes fitting? Notice a pattern here?

The number on the scale is important feedback, but it's not the only measure of success. Keep up the good work!

Oh, you definitely have what it takes! You still had a good week, regardless of what the fickle scale says. I'm a teensy bit green over how well you're doing on the running. :)
