Weekly Update - 1/20/2008

January 20, 2008 · 13 comments

  • Diet starting weight: 295
  • Week starting weight: 264
  • Today’s weight: 263
  • Week weight loss: 1 lbs
  • Total weight lost: 32 lbs

OK so I was a wee too optimistic last Sunday when I wrote I thought I could get to 259 this week.  I didn’t see less than 263 on the scale all week.  I lost a pound, the chart continues to move down, and I have to remember that slow and steady is my mantra.

Things I did well this week:

  • Did strength training four days, not perfect (my plan calls for six) but still pretty good.
  • Hit some running milestones.
  • I did well for breakfast, lunch and daytime snacks all week.

Things I did not so well this week:

  • Needed to put another day or two of cardio in
  • Nighttime grazing
  • Way too much sweets; I had a couple of binges.  It didn’t help that I made a couple batches of these spawns of Satan.

Another week coming up where I have no excuses - no travel means I should be able to focus on my plan.

Don’t sweat it - down is a good thing, no matter what the actual number is. Keep up the good work!

Stay away from that Pioneer Woman!!

I’ve had a weird couple of days and I’m tightening control this week. You’ll see that 259 next week!

I know all about that night time grazing. It doesn’t help that my sleeping habits are half past atrocious..

nice site - I am actually working on one myself.. I will be sure to list you :)

keep up the good work - your progress is inspiring

Other than the Satan worshipping sidetrip, you had a darn good week. :) My favorites are the peanut butter cookie w/mini-Reese’s peanut butter cups. In my previous life, I made them-and ate them-every Christmas. Yummeee, but despicable. Hope you have a great week!

A loss is a loss. It’s always better than a gain.

Nighttime grazing sabotages my dieting efforts every time! Enjoyed your blog by the way - I just stumbled on you via an EntreCard advert. I’ve subscribed, and look forward to future posts.

Congrats! Your weight loss is excellent. Are you finding that the blog is a motivator to keep you on track? I am also blogging about my weight loss (along with other goals) and I find that readers help to keep me in line. : )

By the way, those evil cookie/candy things look mighty tasty. I can see the temptation.

Great job John! A pound is a pound bro. just keep taking it one day at a time. My weigh in is tomorrow, and my weekly goal is 210. Check to see if I did it or not: http://fat.pdbauer.com

Thanks for the back link John.

You should focus on fat loss rather than weight loss. If you’re building muscle using the strength training, your weight might not decrease. However body fat can because of the increased muscle mass, and increased amount of calories burned. But you don’t see that on the weight scale.

Track body fat once a week using a fat caliper. You might also want to check out one of my reader’s training log, Tony. He has similar stats to you, is doing StrongLifts 5×5 program since 2-3 months now and getting results. Might inspire you.
