Well I officially weighed in on the first day of 2008 at 267 and a waist of 50″.  Looking at my pictures it looks like I actually gained weight in my belly, although that could be deceiving because it looks like I may be standing straighter.  And of course I could have lost weight in other spots and gained in my stomach, who knows.  Shame on me for not keep better measurements all over.

So 267 is where I start the year.  I am shooting for 220 by years end, a pace of less than a pound a week.  That will put my BMI at 29.8, which is just into the “Overweight” range rather then the “Obese” range.  I know it seems like a slow pace but I am trying to be realistic.  If I make 220 in a year I’ll be very, very happy. 

In 2008 I expect to ski in Colorado, run some 5ks and do a lot of swimming. 

I think this will be a good year.

That’s not a slow goal-it’s a great goal! Goals are worth nothing if they are unattainable. Yours is right on track. I’m picturing you at 220 in just 52 weeks!

Sounds like a very doable goal.

Pictures~I’d wouldn’t say you gained around the middle, looks to me like it’s becoming more firm than flab.

Hey John,

You should be able to reach that goal by years end without a ton of effort. Possibly sooner.

That’s very realistic and doable, excellent goal John! I think that sometimes people might watch the Biggest Loser and think that they should be dropping 3, 5, or 8 pounds every week. That just doesn’t happen in the real world, and it’s not healthy to lose weight that fast anyway (I know, they each have a doctor standing by, but does anyone not on the show have a doctor by their side 24×7? ;) ).
