After reading about your 'holiday party eats and treats' I think you should give yourself a pat on the back for maintaining your weight through a season that can be fraught with over-eating and weight-GAIN. You did great and I am sure that you ate a lot less of the 'party stuff' this year than you did in previous years. It seems to me that you are enjoying your life and friends (and food) without depriving yourself of special treats during the holiday season. You have obviously found a good balance to eating well, exercising and living life. 2008 will just allow you more time to be innovative as you develop more new and healthy alternatives for exercise and good, healthy eating!

Steve - I sometimes wear PJs at work, does that count? :-)

Fat Man - I think you may be right. I'm going to try to lower my caloric intake for awhile and see how it goes.

Eden - Glad to hear I am not the only one struggling last month - thanks for stopping by!

Skinny Guy - Thanks for that, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. Happy New Year!

TB - Happy New Year!

John - That's sounds like a California thing to do - in a Minnesota winter I don't think would work well. Creative idea though!

"Coming out of the Christmas season without gaining is a real accomplishment."

I agree with Steve. How about using January as a time to throw a big change-up into your fitness routine? Ever consider getting your wife/friend to sit behind the wheel of your car, putting the car an neutral, and you pushing it 30-50 yards? It is a great full body workout- if use no more than one every two weeks or so.

I don't think that maintaining over the holidays can really be considered a plateau. If you were following your regular routine and now losing, I would be more concerned about it.

In any event, I've been behind in my blog visiting over the last week and just wanted to stop by and wish you a happy new year!

This is a really tough time of year! I've only been working at my weight loss for a few months now, but I saw my progress really slow down in Nov - Dec. I'm happy I came out ahead, even though only by a little. I'd say you are doing great!

John, you may be plateauing on your current routine, but I personally think its to relaxed. I think you are ready to kick it up a notch, both in workout intensity and dieting.

Once you commit to doing that, the fat will begin to melt off.

Hey John,

Coming out of the Christmas season without gaining is a real accomplishment.

Look forward to January, this is the best time to find motivation for losing weight. Everyone is either starting their new plans or reaffirming their old ones, so there will be tons of info available. Plus there is still 5 months left until the summer hits. That is plenty of time left to turn up the heat on your workouts so that you can show off the results at the beach or office :)

If I could get away with going shirtless at the office this summer I would do it in a heartbeat.

keep at it.
