Weekly Update - 12/16/2007
- Diet starting weight: 295
- Week starting weight: 266
- Today’s weight: 267
- Week weight gain: 1 lb
- Total weight lost: 28 lbs
This is the second week in a row where I didn’t make the kind of decisions necessary to be moving ahead on my journey from fat to fit. Last week I was able to somehow get away with it and still come up with a pound loss. This week I was even worse and feel lucky to have only gained a pound.
Things I did well this week:
- I truly did nothing well this week other than not going off the deep-end and eating everything in sight. My son and I rang bells for the Salvation Army for a couple of hours yesterday morning in the frigid cold so at least I can feel good about that.
Things I did not so well this week:
- I didn’t do any strength training.
- I didn’t do any cardio.
- I ate fast food twice, and both times I ate more than I should have.
- I polished off the rest of the Christmas cookies.
This week is a really important week for me. First, I have no shot of hitting my weight loss goal for the month unless I put up a big loss number this week. Second, next week is going to be full of holiday dinners and many temptations that frankly I don’t think I am yet prepared to deal with. If I can go into that week with some real positive momentum I might stand a chance. Another thing in my favor is that I am off of work for the rest of the month starting this Friday, so it will be much easier to get my workouts in. I really need to focus on the exercise for the next two weeks.
My journey is going to have it’s ups and downs. It’s important to keep weeks like this to a minimum, and to learn from them when they do appear. Writing about them helps; I am confident I won’t let myself down this week in terms of my decisions.
The results will hopefully follow.

As I know you know my new motto has been “It is what it is.” Life happens, brush it off and start afresh. As my trainer would say, step your game up, and it looks like that’s your plan. Good luck!

Maybe you should think again before giving that pedometer away!
It happens to the best of us. This is a very difficult time of the year. I’m hoping to maintain till the new year, but trying the make better choices than before.

I was sick last week and I ate every comfort food in sight. This MUST be a good week because next week isn’t going to be! I don’t want to start the new year off higher than my current weight!
So we get back up, dust off and keep at it!

Don’t kill yourself trying to catch up to make the weight goal for the month. Concentrate on making the best choices that you can from here on out and let the numbers fall where they may. String enough good choices together and you won’t be able to keep yourself from succeeding!

Thanks all, I’m definetly getting back up and dusting off this week - so far so good. And Skinny is right, I shouldn’t put too much emphasis on my monthly goal is that is really artificial - in the long run it makes no difference what I do any given month. Still, I have found these mini goals motivate me and you do what you need to do!

I have spent all year going up and down, but I have at least maintained the 140+ weight loss. In the past I would have just given up and blimped back to the 350s or 400s! Ups and downs are part of life and the daily stress and the holidays factor in too. Good luck for next week.
