Can’t do a traditional update because I don’t have my trusted scale with me in Paris (or any scale, for that matter). But I must say I do feel thinner. My goal is to come back next week 2 pounds lighter and while at first I was hesitant about being able to do so I do feel like it is at least a possibility now.
Things I did well this week:
- I’ve done a couple of 3 mile runs outside while in Paris. This is such a sign that I am making the lifestyle changes I need to make to be successful - last year I never would have done something like this.
- Have not had any food binges and in general have been eating well.
- Have been enjoying my time in Paris without overly worrying about my diet.
Things I did not so well this week:
- I haven’t been drinking enough water. It’s really hard drinking water when you are always walking around sightseeing I think. I have been ordering water when we eat, but really not drinking in between meals. I need to make this a priority (although water is expensive if I don’t drink it at the hotel).
- Nutella Crepe. Oh boy was it good though!
- Not eating very balanced meals and not eating enough, I don’t think. Lucky to get 3 meals in when I should be eating more small ones.
Of the two weeks I was worried about, this is the one I was less worried about. I’m with my wife and I knew we would be doing a lot of walking around. Starting tomorrow I’ll be doing less walking since I’ll be working. That should mean I can drink more water, but I’ll have to be more careful about the food intake. As well I know I’ll be more tempted to overeat and other bad things once I am by myself here.
So far I feel good about reaching my goal for this month despite a difficult travel schedule. This is the week that will make or break me - I’ve got group dinners I’ll be hosting, which are always tough for me. I’ll be by myself in hotel rooms. I won’t be walking around much.
Time to focus on a good week.
