2007 Weblog Awards Are Over

2007 Weblog Awards Finalist

The 2007 Weblog Awards are over, and as expected I did not win.  However, I did finish in 4th place in my category of Best Medical/Health Issues Blog with 363 votes so I am pretty happy about that.  I was in last place for most of the competition but mysteriously got a ton of votes on the last day.  I’m hoping they were all legitimate and not one of my readers stuffing the ballot box.  Naughty, naughty if you did!

This contest was a pretty good source of traffic for me with over 200 new visitors being referred from the award site.  However, as I mentioned earlier, I have been having feed troubles so I think I missed out on a chance to add many new readers.

Congrats to Adrian Sudbury at Baldy’s Blog for winning the title of Best Medical/Health Issues Blog and good luck to him as he battles leukaemia.

    I cant remember if I said this before but I havent been having any feed problems with your site. I use google reader to catch your updates.

    yeh, i think it served its purpose, which was to provide some new traffic and potential readers, plus some google love. lol.

    I use google reader to get your updates too and I haven’t had any problems.

    I didn’t know we could stuff the ballet box, it only let me vote once per day.

    I’m glad lots of new people have found your blog!

    Hi John,

    This is Baldy here from the UK - also called Adrian as my hair has pretty much come back! Thanks for the kind comments, really appreciate them. It’s been a very difficult year so this last week has been a much welcome distraction. Winning gave me, my girlfriend, family and friends a huge boost.

    4th is an awesome showing and you’ve gained quite a few new readers. Isn’t that really the whole point of entering anyway?

    Thanks for the comments everyone. I’ve heard from a few people know who said they found me from the awards and have subscribed and be counted as readers, which indeed was my goal of entering. Keeping this blog active is really important to me because I have determined that you guys help keep me on the straight and narrow.
