Weekly Update - 11/04/2007

November 4, 2007 · 11 comments

  • Diet starting weight: 295
  • Week starting weight: 274
  • Today’s weight: 272
  • Week weight loss: 2 lbs
  • Total weight lost: 23 lbs

I finally managed to establish a new low after having posted a 273 three weeks ago.  Feels good to see the graph looking better again.  All in all this was a good week - I didn’t exercise very much but for the most part I was solid on my eating and that’s what got me through.  I’m not starving myself either - I’m eating well, just smart and healthy.

Things I did well this week:

  • Took a couple of long walks with my wife.
  • I’ve had less than a half dozen small Halloween chocolates.  More on this later!
  • My wife and I saw American Gangster in the theatre last night (which we really liked) and all I had was a large water.  And I didn’t crave anything.
  • Except as noted below, ate really well all week.

Things I did not so well this week:

  • For the third week in a row I did very little cardio.  I really need to pick this up if I want to start putting up big numbers.
  • Only lifted weights a couple of days.
  • As previouslly noted, had one binge night eating.  One isn’t bad but I need it to be zero.

I’m hoping I can put up a big number this week while I am staying home on vacation.  I’m going to need it because the next week I am in Chicago for a couple of days and then I’ll be in Europe (Paris, London, Munich) from the 21st through Dec. 1st.  It’s going to be nearly impossible for me to keep up my exercise let alone eat properly.  This could have the makings of a bad month, but I’ve got to grind through it - I’ve got a goal of losing 6 pounds which is the monthly average I am looking to maintain for awhile.  The good news for my diet is I won’t be partaking in a Thanksgiving feast this year.

This also wasn’t a good month to commit to NaBloPoMo!

Congrats on the downward movement!!

I’ve found that when I’m in Europe I always do lots of walking and come home a few pounds lighter, I hope this is the case for you too! Skip the taxi when possible and walk walk walk!!

2 Lbs is still a good loss for the week. If you’re having trouble getting your cardio in, have you thought about doing 10-15 of HIIT after your weights?

I mean you are already in your workout gear anyway, right?

Great loss! Good luck when you’re traveling - try to take advantage of the gyms in the hotels where you’ll be staying.

Diana - I’ll get a lot of walking in at the beginning of the trip, but for the majority of the time it’s going to be business, and a lot of train/air travel.

Steve - The problem is I need to get up at 4:00 - 4:30 to get my 45 minutes in. Even another 15 minutes on top of that is tough, but it sounds worth looking into. I’ve seen a little about HIIT, is there a good article somewhere you can point me to?

Skinny - Well, that’s the problem - very few hotels in Europe, at least the price level that I stay in, have gyms. I am going to bring my running shoes though. Won’t be a problem next week in Chicago of course.

Good job!

I’ve been wondering lately about “normal” life. I read your entry and it strikes me as normal life (in a GOOD way) and you still lost weight.

I have some friends who, after drastic weight loss, are in the “transition phase” of their $$$ diet program and it all strikes me as a little strange.

I wonder, will the lives of my friends ever become “normal”?

long walks are the best, especially since the misses loves the alone time.
