2007 Blood Test Results

Well it turns out that not only did I have a Great Visit to the Doctor in terms of our discussion but also as measured by my blood-work, the results of which I just got back.  Big picture?  Overall cholesterol dropped from 182 to 164.  “Super Cholesterol,” wrote my doctor on the results.  Oh yeah!

Here are the side by side results for my blood tests from the last two years.  Note that they took place about 18 months apart, during which I have focused on my fitness only for the last 3.  Some of the desired ranges changed, not quite sure why that is.

Year 2006 2007
Test Value Range Value Range
Glucose 89 70-120 87 70-110
Cholesterol 182 0-200 164 0-200
LDL-Cholesterol 128 0-130 116.4 0-130.1
rev Triglycerides 90 0-199 63 0-151
HDL-Cholesterol 36 46-86 35 35-60

HDL-Cholesterol went down a point, when you want it to go up.  However the range lowered such that I am now at the bottom end of the desired range.  All other numbers came down nicely.

While my pictures don’t show the progress I was hoping to see, my blood-work, my scale and my belt all tell me I am heading in the right direction!

  • Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so exciting John. And your pictures show marked improvement, actually. Look at the side view of your belly–definite improvement, for sure. Way to go for you. It’s so nice to see blood work improvements….decreases the stress level for sure. You’ve got a great future ahead of you.
  • Congrats John, glad to see the health numbers getting better. I noticed the change in the pictures as well. The belly is looking deflated.
  • Congratulations on your blood tests! Excellent results.
  • Nice to see those Triglycerides drop too!! Great improvement!
  • That is outstanding! I go back this week for my 3 month A1C test. I’m hoping its better! :)
  • Congrats on lowering the LDL that stuff is a killer. The HDL is a lot harder to improve on. Most of it has to do with genetics.

This is a good reminder that I need to get mine checked again.

  • Well, on the surface it would appear it to be
better for HDL to go up.

But, what’s even more important is to increase the
    ratio between HDL and LDL.

Your LD went down a lot and just 1 point on the
HDL. This is actually a VERY good thing.

The less LDL you have the less HDL you actually
need to clean up behind the LDL.

    :)

You’re doing great! I need to go in and have my numbers done. I just hate doctors so I have been putting it off.

Would it be okay to link your blog on my blog??
