Maybe it's a full moon....it's been a rough one all over fatblogging land this week. My guess? October schlump. Oh sure, September is all full of promise and new beginnnings and fall. October is shorter days, colder nights, and a hankering for all sorts of comforting things. Plus, a routine shake up is not helpful. Have a better week John...we all will.

I really connect with this post. I just called myself out for my bad habits on my blog as well. Sometimes just getting it out there (confessing) is theraputic because you're taking owership of your actions and you're not fooling yourself into believeing that youre doing all that you can or should be doing. I'm constantly recommitting myself to my lifestyle after a bad day or week and I think that's important and healthy.

I hope you have a great week!

Diana - You are telling me! It's really hard. The good news is I frequently have the opportunity to try to improve. The bad news is I frequently am in these types of situations, not yet prepared to properly handle them. In regards to my weight I have to remember how long I told myself this would take and recognize that it is a journey.

Rachel - I hope so. It is going to be strange, I have actually lost a little weight since my last exam about 18 months ago, although I pretty much did nothing but gain until a few months ago. So I am prepared for my blood work to come back worse. I wish I had had an exam at my peak, but these things need to be scheduled months and months in advance. I am actually looking forward to it (well, not ALL of it!).

The physical may be just what you need at this point to help you realize how far you have come, yet reassess about where you want to be.

I think learning to make new habits and not eating what everyone else is eating takes time. I know I'm not there yet, I have a few social occasions this month and next and a ton of them in December and its going to be difficult to do the "right" thing. Honestly I think you have to give yourself a lot of credit for:
1. acknowledging you didn't do your best
2. making a plan to do better
3. getting back on track right away

Its takes time to change, we will get there.
