"Monday morning I needed to get up at 4:00am to prep for an all day meeting, and since I assumed the fitness center at the hotel was closed I didn’t work out"

Since I started my Ph.D. program at a university 1 1/2 hours from my home I now get up at 4:30 Mon., Wed., and Fri. to make it to the gym by about 6:15 or so, and workout until 7:00.

Thanks to that schedule I've been eating lunch around 10:30 in the morning. HA!

Rachel - 100% right, everything is so mental. I do feel like I am handling the scale oddities pretty well now - it certainly helps when you occasionally get that positive reinforcement where the scale does move down in relation to your hard work.

Angela - Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Vindaloo, Prawn Curry, Aloo Gobi, tons of Naan, sauces, Kingfisher beer - oh man. Just couldn't help myself.

GroovyBabe - it's tough. And I know it's going to get really tough as I lose some of this "easier" weight.

I'm not sure I could do so well if I were constantly travelling. I love to travel but it plays havoc with the body. Similar to not sleeping really - its hard work staying on track!

Ultimately it will be our choices that make the permanent change. But is so hard to not get hung up on the little fluctuations of the scale. I have that problem. I do well and I am proud of myself, but then the scale registers a gain or at least no loss and it negates, in my mind, the work I put in. Or, I don't do so well, yet then, see a loss...I get a false sense of security and relax on the things I should be most diligent about. It just goes back to it all being a mental battle.
