A First - Uneaten Pizza!

Uneaten pizza.  This is not a phrase I have uttered much in my life except for maybe in the context of the morning after a big party - “Hey look, uneaten pizza.  Breakfast!”  But “uneaten pizza” was indeed uttered by me last night and it was because I was putting two complete uneaten pizzas away in the fridge for leftovers.  How did this possibly come to pass?

Thursday is pizza night at our house.  This has been a many year tradition born of a busy family looking for a little break once a week.  A day where a simple phone call or web site submission yields some fabulous greasy, cheesy, gooey ‘za.  At 5 when I would normally order the pizza my wife and daughter left to run errands telling me they would either eat out or come back for cold pizza.  Unfortunately this meant I couldn’t hit the treadmill after ordering the pizza on the off chance they came in less than 30 minutes so I wasted a little time until the pizza guy came.

By this time my son had called to say he was eating over at a friends house.  So it was just me and two pizzas.  Well really one pepperoni pizza and one order of cheesesticks which is basically cheese pizza without the sauce.  I set the pizzas down on the middle of the table and then went to workout.  I have really been enjoying my cardio lately and I honestly was thinking about that instead of pizza.  Now that in itself is insane!

After I got done working out I had a shower and got dressed and I simply didn’t feel like greasy, cheesy, gooey anything.  I felt like fruit.  So that’s what I had for dinner, I cut up a banana, a pluot, a half dozen strawberries, a couple of blackberries and a tangerine and stirred in a yogurt.  That was my dinner.  Yeah probably lacking in a few things (I’m not a dietician!) but it was exactly what I was looking for at that moment.

The pizza?  My son was full and my wife and daughter had KFC.  So I put that uneaten pizza into the fridge and I went to bed feeling great.

Yay for me!

  • Good one John!

I used to be the same way. If their was food around I ate it whether I was hungry or not. Buffets used to kill me!

It’s amazing how quickly your tastes start to change and your cravings subside once you get a taste of how good it feels to be healthy.

    Keep up the great work.

  • awesome stuff man. this happens to be every so often as well. it feels great to know that you have the inner warriorness to stick to your guns.
  • Yeah for John!! This week we ordered pizza and subs. Prior to getting healthy I would order two pizzas, one a meat lovers and one with double cheese and pepperoni for the kids, two subs and an order of those cinnasiticks with the topping.

Now I ordered one pizza for the kids and hubby and a sub for me, but I ordered turkey and I skipped on the pizza entirely. It was hard, but it sure felt good. And today I was down another two lbs. 185 the scale said. That’s down from 272. Incredible, I can’t get over it.

  • That is a huge thing. I would have a hard time with that. That is exactly what our family orders on the weekend too. I have just had to forgo it altogether because I don’t trust myself. Great job!
  • That’s freaking awesome! What a milestone to hit. Congratulations.
  • Let this be the First of MANY Firsts. Congratulations!

You really are learning that it’s what goes on in your mind truly creates the space for you to make good decisions. And you know you ALWAYS have a choice…..eating is really in your control.

I love that feeling that happens when I make a good choice, too. And you’ll find that the more you experience that great feeling, the more you’ll look forward to it and get it….

    Keep up your success,
    Think Slim,
    Wendy

  • Congrats! that sounds like a major victory!
  • Thanks for the feedback everyone! As a follow-up, so far I have managed to restrain from doing any damage with the left over pizza. I had a few small pieces of the cheese sticks for breakfast this morning (along with a V8 - on the run for kids soccer) and am close to feel OK with throwing the rest away. Close, not but not quite. I’m thinking I’ll have two small slices for lunch and then that will be it. An expensive few slices but you got to do what you go to do.
  • Three Cheers!

You should try fit and free pizza - it’s great! They can be ordered online, come frozen - only 252 calories, very very low fat and taste great (takes just 10 mins in the oven)
