Lady Rose - I could certainly see some benefits to having everything prepared for you, yet I enjoy food shopping and cooking so much I know that could never work for me long term (nor would any of the other pre-packaged programs). I've got to learn how to shop, cook and eat within my limits!

GroovyBabe - Fear is a great motivator! Good luck to you and to your friend. My concern with the wls is that while she can only eat so much right now I understand that the stomch can slowly expand such that you can eat more and more. My biggest fear would be going under the surgery, losing a ton of weight, but then slowly growing back the stomach so I could eat more and then put back on the weight.

I've been considering wls for some time but always told myself I didn't have the nerve to go under the knife. I tried everything so many times but in the end told myself that I have one more year to lose weight naturally and if I do not manage it then I will have to go under the knife. I am 2 months in and 27lbs lighter! The fear worked!

A friend of mine was useless at losing weight, had no willpower at all and had wls and it worked for her. I wouldnt have thought it would due to her eating habits but the surgery really does stop you from overeating. She lost 6 stone in a year afterwards and now shes lighter and better looking she will not dare to over eat.

I do think its worth doing if nothing else works, but should be a last resort.

I am currently thinking of doing the Medifast diet - or at least trying it for a month.
It's 800 to 1000 calories - very nutritional, protein packed pre-packaged foods.

It's sorta of what I do already, but big difference is the food is backed by medical research (and backed by several doctors as well), been around for 25 years and seems to work. I am talking with someone tonight by phone (for the second time) and will probably take the plunge and give it a try for at least month.

The reason I'm thinking of doing it - just to make my day to day easier - it's all done for me.
